Representation of teenagers in the news

Teenagers in the news have recently been shown in the riots of August this year. They are shown looting shop and burning down shops/buildings/cars

All four of them get up to no good and are naughty all the time, they play tricks on each other

I am looking at the representation of young people because they are very sneaky and suspicious + I’m a teenager and I am looking at how they are represented in the media, are they positive or negative way. They can also be thought as violent dangerous or even a threat to other people.  

Representation in the Media

Representation means when a media text like a TV programme or film shows a particular group of people in a certain way. For example over weight people are often represented as being stupid (like Peter Griffin in Family Guy).

I am going to look at how teenagers are represented in the Media, I will be looking at TV, Film and News to see how they represent teenagers.
